Lucia Giuliano

She studied at the Faculty of Architecture of Palermo, where she graduated, and at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona. From 2000 to 2011 she worked as an architect at the japanese architectural office Arata Isozaki & Associates in Barcelona, working to several projects developed between Barcelona and Tokyo, like Caixaforum Cultural Centre and Distrito 38 office building in Barcelona, Isozaki Atea in Bilbao, Hotel Puerta America among others. During her time at AIA she has expanded her interests towards the intersections between architecture, education, territory and society. Since 2010 she works full time as director of Abadir Academy, a private design school based in Catania, recognized by the italian Ministry of Education and focused on design training.

Makoto Fukuda

After the graduation and tutor experience at MFA Master in Fine Arts and Architecture at Tokyo University of Arts, he joined Miralles Tagliabue EMBT studio in Barcelona from1996 to 2016, working to notable and important projects for the city of Barcelona like Santa Caterina Market, Diagonal Mar Park, Palafolls Library, and for the international scene like the ArcelorMittal Art Pavilion in Luxemburg, the Spanish Pavilion for Expo Shanghai 2010 and a wooden dome pavilion for Expo Milan 2015. Since 2006, he also joined the Japanese architect Toyo Ito’s international team to develop projects in Europe and South America like Fira Barcelona, Suites Avenue Apartment Hotel and Baroque Museum in Puebla, Mexico. His approach always tries to generate free and strong combination between materials, images and landscape, treating materials as universal elements.
