The city of Puebla in Mexico has great history of Baroque culture. The Baroque culture born in Italy had been diffused all of the world and every ambits of the culture with variety reasons.
The original project of the museum was dedicated to the conservation, research and dissemination of the various manifestations of baroque sensibility in its artistic, cultural, social, scientific and technological aspects. The first curatorial proposal sought to represent the complexity of baroque expression in the fields of architecture, painting and sculpture, literature, among others; it also included a program of temporary exhibitions.
To design the building, three characteristic elements of Baroque art are taken: movement, natural light such as chiaroscuro and the relationship between man and nature. These concepts, expressed through form, generate fluid spaces that respond to the complex needs of international museums.
For Toyo Ito, architecture must be like a tree: an organism that grows and develops according to its environment and thereby generates new experiences that enrich the lives of users.
